Recon Helmet - Installation 01

High poly asset (to be retopo'd and baked down) for a fan project called Installation 01. I wanted the helmet to look like there were still hand-built elements on it to enforce the rarity that is associated with this armor set.

The design is not an amalgamation of the three designs the helmet has had over the course of the Halo series, but it is built on top of the (unfortunate few) major forms that have been consistent throughout it's appearances. The flat/ inset space in the sides of the cranium, the metallic dot on the forehead, the triangular visor, and the fins coming off of the chin were the landmarks I felt I needed to include for this helmet to read as specifically Recon.

The material seen here is partially procedural (a bunch of noise textures masked together with geometry attributes like the concaveness of a bend in a surface), and constructed in Blender's material node editor.

An older iteration of the model. Lots of design elements have changed since this version, for the better imo.
